They’ll have you in stitches – A look at The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio

Bags of talent

Embroidered and printed items from The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio. Smart people with clever technology, producing brilliant work.

Behind an unassuming frontage in Goodsons Mews in Thame it is a positive hive of industry. Here you will find The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio. Set up two years ago by partners Lib Charlesworth and Jo Beeney. This is a business that offers a full suite of embroidery services – from digitisation through embroidery to final packaging.

With backgrounds in media and tv across marketing, sales and operations, Lib and Jo looked have managed a School Uniform service for M&S over the last 10 years. Quality, workmanship, customer service and attention to detail were paramount. Having set up The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio, they have brought along these values with them.

The business both embroiders and prints. So, for example, a school or business may need their logo on the front of a garment, but a team or design printed on the reverse.

The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio will decorate a large range of clothing for a huge range of customers. These include schools, sports clubs, equestrian teams, engineering businesses, the hospitality sector, festival organisers, etc. Their work features on school and business uniforms, t-shirts, blazers, overalls, aprons, hats, and bags. In fact the team can embroider and print virtually anything you want on to any item and material.

The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio is not an industrial sweatshop, nor is it two little old ladies sitting at sewing machines (no offence Lib and Jo).

It is in fact a bright and airy, state of the art creative studio (hence the name).
The ground floor studio is more of a creative hub. Digital Barudan embroidery machines hum along. This is the Rolls-Royce of embroidery machines. Brilliantly accurate and very expensive, naturally. The business uses Madeira threads. Again, the finest available. A sustainable material, available in a myriad of colours.

It is here you will also find the other members of the team and their sister business. Whilst the core business is on behalf of their clients, The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio has also set up its own brand business.; Design @ Number 4. Here they embroider and print their own products which are designed inhouse.

The rest of the team are Debs with 20 years of embroidery experience, Elsa, a graduate of The Royal School of Needlework, Katie, graduate from the world of fashion design and Rowan, a knitwear graduate. A very talented team.

Design at Number 4 have recently started to design and print bags, cushions, T-shirts, kidswear and giftware.

With quality, attention to detail and customer happiness at the heart of all they do, The Oxfordshire Embroidery Studio treat every piece with the same sense of pride. If you are wondering if your design or idea can be embroidered, the studio loves a challenge so just ask. They are confident they have the experience, expertise and technology to achieve anything. Smart people producing smart work.
