“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”

Albert Einstein

Wise words from a wise man, and that is exactly what fitch&fellows strives to do. A gallery and shop that celebrates wonderful creativity and craftsmanship.

A work of art can bring so much joy to the eye and really lift our mood. Pablo Picasso once said “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

Of course ‘art’ comes in many forms. It could be a painting that makes a statement, dominating a wall in a room. Or a sculpture sitting proudly on a shelf, or a beautiful piece of jewellery worn lovingly against the skin.

A piece of art who’s beauty is pertinant to the owner and yet enjoyed by others.

The owner of fitch&fellows in Thame’s Buttermarket is Susannah Fellows. Susannah is an enthusiastic supporter of creative craftsmanship and is fired by a passion for anything hand-made and original.

The objects in her gallery and shop are infused with witt and charm. Some classic in style and some surprising in their nature. One thing they all have in common is they have all been hand crafted by a skilled artist or designer.

Featured here are just a small selection of works to be found gracing fitch&fellows sunny interior. Works reflecting this bright joyous time of year.

Carolyn Bonthrone’s bright, summery and fun filled paintings of swimming ladies. Swimming is also the theme for some quirky ‘swimmer spoons’ from Phil Jackson at Beamers Designs, hand-made in Oak and hand-painted.

Jackie Henderson and Sarah Button’s detailed nature-based studies. Sue Ure’s entirely hand-thrown ceramics inspired by the minimalism of postwar ‘mid-century’ design as well as northern European design, from Bauhaus to Arabia.

Lottie Day screen printed textile products for the home, featuring original illustrations inspired by her home county of Norfolk.

Block Glass and their beautiful and innovative reversible glass vases.

fitch & fellows is home to the creations of so many inspirational artists and designers, and soon the gallery will also be home to the actual artists.

Bucks Art Weeks runs from the 8th to the 23rd of June.

A celebration of local creativity, and fitch & fellows will be hosting the following artists as they work.

Printmaker Lino Lord (Mark Lord) with his wonderful linocuts. Kerry Newth and her unique handmade jewellery, as well as Sally Dorrity with her functional and sculptural hand built pots.

Let art lift the spirits, call into fitch&fellows.
