Back to school:
Give your child the confidence to thrive this school year
September is a season of fresh starts. New teachers, new classrooms, new routines and new opportunities all bring a sense of possibility. It’s also the perfect time to establish positive learning habits that help children feel confident, motivated and ready to succeed throughout the school year.
For many parents, that means looking beyond the classroom and asking how they can best support their child’s learning. Whether a child needs to strengthen their foundations, build confidence or is ready to move ahead of the school curriculum, the Kumon Method provides an individualised approach that helps every child reach their potential.
At the Kumon Thame Study Centre, children develop far more than maths and English skills. Through the internationally recognised Kumon Method, which has been helping children succeed for nearly 70 years, students develop confidence, resilience and the independent learning skills that benefit them throughout their education and beyond.
The study centre is led by Dr Anita Aggarwal, a qualified primary school teacher with more than 15 years’ experience in education. Alongside her classroom experience, she holds a Master’s in Education and recently completed her Professional Doctorate in Education.
“Schools do an incredible job supporting children across a broad curriculum,” Anita explains. “Every classroom includes children learning at different speeds. Some need more time to build confidence in the basics, while others are ready to move ahead more quickly. Kumon complements what children learn at school by allowing every child to work at a level that’s just right for them, developing confidence, independence and the ability to progress at their own pace.”
Unlike traditional tuition, Kumon doesn’t simply focus on helping children with today’s schoolwork. Every child begins with a free assessment before following an individualised programme of daily study, carefully designed in small, manageable steps.
As children experience success, they become increasingly confident learners who enjoy tackling new challenges independently. Many students go on to study beyond their current school year level while developing the skills to learn for themselves.
Parents regularly comment on the difference Kumon makes, not only to academic progress but also to their child’s confidence. One parent shared: “Anita has been so great with my daughter, who started off with very little confidence in maths. Just a couple of weeks into Kumon, her school teacher commented on the big improvement in her confidence.”
The Kumon Thame Study Centre also offers KUMON CONNECT, allowing students to complete their daily study digitally where appropriate, and is an Ofsted registered centre.
To help local families make the most of the new school year, the Kumon Thame Study Centre is offering Free Registration to families enrolling between 1 September and 15 October, saving the usual £45 registration fee.
If you’re looking to give your child a confident start to the new school year, now is the perfect time to discover how Kumon can help build strong skills, positive study habits and a lifelong love of learning.
