Tennis club serves an ace.
Padel is a hugely popular and fast growing sport. Now you can give it a try, as a brand new court has been built at North Oxford Lawn Tennis Club.
North Oxford Lawn Tennis Club is a long established and very popular club. That doesn’t mean it is a club that rests on its laurels and refuses to move with the times.
Oxfordshire’s premier tennis club has 10 grass, 9 floodlit hard courts and is now offering Padel as the first stage in further developing the Club and its facilities into an even more inclusive, welcoming and progressive environment. The club caters for all ages and abilities. Its mission is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle choice through the enjoyment of Lawn Tennis and Padel for the local community.
So, what is Padel? A fusion of the best elements of tennis and squash, Padel is played on an enclosed court about one-third the size of a tennis court. It provides a friendly and engaging setting for players of all skill levels. The sport is easy to learn, addictive, and promotes fitness, fun, and camaraderie among players. Padel is played in doubles, with under arm serves making it perfect for friends, families, and competitive players alike.
It is believed to have originated in Mexico in the late sixties. Playing Padel boomed during Covid and is now said to be Europe’s fastest growing sport.
“We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience for our members,” said Christian Petersen, chair of the Club. “Padel is a fantastic addition that aligns with our commitment to offering diverse and exciting activities. Whether you’re a seasoned tennis player or new to racket sports, Padel offers something for everyone.”
The court is open to members and non members
