This December Greens of Thame will celebrate 60 years of trading.
High Streets evolve over the years. Pubs, Restaurants and Retailers come and go. So it really is something to celebrate when your business has been a fixture on Thame’s High Street since 1963. Greens of Thame (formerly Greens Furnishings) remains an independent, family run business that continues to serve the local community for all their soft furnishings needs.
Established by their father Jim, brothers Tim and Pete took over the day to day running of the shop in 1984. For the last 13 years they have been ably assisted by Interior Designer, Sian.
Although Greens of Thame still has a shop front on the High Street (the entrance is to the left of the Mint Velvet shop window), visits are by appointment only.
Lockdown gave the team a chance to streamline their business and deliver a truly bespoke service. Appointment only, means a personal, one to one meeting. Customers can benefit from their invaluable collective knowledge and command the undivided attention of the teams many years of experience.
Greens of Thame specialise in Blinds, Curtains, Carpets and Re-upholstery.
A generous and impressive area of the showroom is dedicated to the blinds collection. Sian is on hand to demonstrate the superb Luxaflex range of blinds available in a host of different styles to suit any of your window needs. From your rollerblinds to your motorised Silhouette blinds- there is a window treatment solution for your needs.
One of the blinds on display is a Duette blind- this is a honeycomb blind that diffuses light and provides extraordinary energy efficiency in your home no matter the season. The unique design creates an insulating barrier at your windows to regulate the temperature in a room, whilst reducing your energy costs. There are numerous ways a Duette blind can be installed but one of the most popular is Trufit. This enables the Duette blind to be fitted to the glass without drilling. This makes it an ideal solution for bi-fold doors, uPVC windows and conservatories.
Moving on to the very smart day privacy blinds- there are 3 on display. Twist, Silhouette and Pirouette. All of these blinds look very different but they all offer day privacy and then night time privacy in one blind. Silhouette shades specialises taking the harshest light and transforms it into softly diffused light. You just simply tilt the fabric vanes to enjoy beautiful daylight whilst filtering out glare. Pirouette shades are the perfect blind for lovers of light and admirers of beautiful fabric, capturing the unique qualities of both with a stunning fabric. Finally Twist blinds are an innovative take on the classic roller. They give you greater flexibility to manage the light and privacy regardless of day or night.
All the blinds can be operated manually as you might expect, but it’s those that move remotely with rechargeable batteries with PowerView® that are particularly impressive.
New PowerView® Gen 3 are operated by a remote control unit or via an app/hub on your smart phone or tablet. They can even be used with your smart speaker, and you can set your blinds to open and close at anytime.
Even when you are away – providing a great security feature.
If blinds aren’t your thing then Greens made to measure Roman Blinds celebrate a passion for the beauty of fabrics to enhance the home you love.
If you prefer curtains, then Greens specialise in handmade styles created by local seamstresses. The finest fabric brands are displayed in sample books such as Colefax and Fowler, Romo, Morris & Co, Harlequin and Sanderson Design Group to name a few.
Greens have an extensive display of poles and tracks from different suppliers. One of their biggest displays is of Silent Gliss tracks and blinds. They are the leading company for all things tracks and have options from the smallest windows to the largest!
Carpets are also available to order and get fitted, from brands such as Westex and Telenzo there is something for everyone.
Some customers know they want to change the look of their rooms, but are unsure what style would best suit them. Fortunately, Greens of Thame also provide an Interior Design service.
